Wellington Girls' College writes:
Why choose Wellington Girls' College for your Kiwi experience?
If you want to study right in the middle of the "coolest little capital" where you are five minutes from the top shops, an exciting waterfront, the main bus and train station, many cafes, parks, the beach, embassies and the Prime Minister herself, come to Wellington Girls'!
Wellington is a safe, compact city with easy public transport, it's the festival city and foodie city of New Zealand, with great coffee too, it's a safe, clean, green city with welcoming people from all over the world.
WGC is the top hockey school in Wellington and excels at netball and football as well. There are 100 different sports teams to choose at school, let alone all the clubs around the city. If you want to play it, we can find it for you!
If you're more into Music and Culture, we're the school for you as well. Our top placed third in New Zealand last year and our all-comers choir won many awards in the Wellington region and further afield. You can join our orchestra which combines with our brother school, Wellington College, or the barbershop, jazz band and many others. You can learn an instrument at school during the school day. You can join the Polynesian club, Kapa Haka club, feminist club, debating, dog club, Interact club where you volunteer around Wellington, again with the boys' school or so many others.
We organise some great trips for our internationals - you can join the Learning Journey trip to the top of the South Island in March where you learn to kayak and mountain bike and you hike and camp in the wilderness, maybe you'd like to join the ski trip in September to experience very different skiing from Europe. In August we go to Taupo to jetboat, visit boiling mud pools and geysers and hot spas and in April, we go out to the wild east coast to Castlepoint. If you're here for long enough you may get to go on the Fashion trip to Australia or the Geography trip to Tongariro National Park.
Wellington Girls' is a strong academic school with many subjects on offer. Our school is well recognised for strengths in Art - Painting, Sculpture, Photography and Design, Technology subjects like Product and Spatial Design, Fashion Design, Digital Design and Media Studies. We offer five languages, one of very few New Zealand schools to still offer Latin, French and German, as well as Chinese, English and Maori.
Our international programme is well established and diverse with 60-70 students from Germany, Italy, the US, South Africa, Korea, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Thailand - our homestays are warm and welcoming and together with our seven international staff look after you well.
Come and join us, we would love to see you!
